Standard VII cases: 2027 test-centre, deferral and membership updates
The 2027 reading adds test-centre and deferral examples to VII(A), a third annual membership requirement and a duty to remove references after a lapse to VII(B), and 'Expert, CFA' as the pseudonym case.
In short
- VII(A) now has examples on conduct at the test centre (disruption, looking at another screen) and on a fraudulent deferral request, which is also a misrepresentation under I(C).
- Membership has three annual requirements: the Membership Agreement, the Professional Conduct Statement and dues. Missing any one ends membership and the right to use the designation.
- After a lapse, remove all references to membership or the designation from social media profiles, business communications and reports; you may say you were a member or charterholder, or give the years.
- Candidates refer to themselves as candidates 'for the CFA designation'; no partial designation unless CFA Institute authorises it, and never an expected completion date.
- VII(A) does not require a programme participant who is neither a member nor a candidate to follow the Code, but programme rules and testing policies still apply.
