What the free mock includes
- 180 multiple-choice questions with three options each, like the real exam.
- Two sessions of 90 questions and 135 minutes each. Take them back to back, or Session 2 on another day.
- The 2026 topic weights, so every topic counts about as much as it does on exam day.
- An exam-style interface with a question navigator, flags, highlighting and the option to strike through answers you have ruled out.
- A full explanation for every question: the working, why the answer is right and why the others are wrong.
- A score report with your score in every topic next to its exam weight, and the time spent per question.
Is it really free?
Yes. The free mock is the whole product, not a sample: all 180 questions, all explanations and the full report. You don't enter a card to get it and there is no trial that turns into a subscription. When to take it
A mock is most useful once you have worked through the whole curriculum, typically in the last six to eight weeks before the exam. Taking it earlier still shows you the format, but low scores in topics you haven't studied yet tell you little. Sit it under exam conditions, with both sessions timed and no notes, and then spend at least as long reviewing it as you spent answering it.
How it compares with CFA Institute's practice material
Registered candidates also get practice questions and mock exams from CFA Institute in its learning platform, and you should use them. More full-length practice, in a different style and with different numbers, helps you check that you understand a concept rather than remember a question. Our questions are original and written for CheapMocks; none are taken from CFA Institute materials or past exams.
What to do with your results
Start with the topics that score lowest and carry the most weight. Each topic has a free study guide covering every learning module, the key formulas and the most common mistakes, and the Level I formula sheet collects the formulas in one place. When you have revised a topic, test it again before exam day.
