Quantitative Methods
Quantitative Methods covers the maths the rest of the curriculum relies on: returns, time value of money, statistics, probability, hypothesis testing and simple regression.

≈ Questions in a 180-question exam13
What the questions cover
- Holding-period, arithmetic, geometric and money- vs time-weighted returns
- Present and future values of annuities, perpetuities and uneven cash flows
- Measures of central tendency, dispersion, skewness and kurtosis
- Probability rules, expected value, and Bayes' formula
- Sampling, standard error and confidence intervals
- Hypothesis tests, p-values and Type I/II errors
- Simple linear regression output, and the basics of big data and machine learning
How to study it
- Get fast with your calculator's cash-flow and statistics functions; they save minutes per question.
- Write down what the question asks for (e.g. the standard error, not the standard deviation) before calculating.
- Many distractors are the right formula with one wrong input, such as n instead of n − 1.
